Australia's only festival focussed on chipmusic and retrotech, Square Sounds, has announced the remainder of its lineup featuring music inspired by - and created with - retro videogame hardware.

Square Sounds will party over two nights in Melbourne this February, with chiptune, micropop, skweee dreamsynth and experimental electronica, retro soundscapes and 8bit visuals promising punters a unique audio-visual feast for the senses.

Deservedly labelling its lineup as "blue chip", the festival will feature a total of 17 audio and four visual artists - including international stars of chipmusic and its related genres - such as e Elliot, A_Art, Pselodux, Hunz (previously known as 7bit Hero), Cheapshot, Omodaka and more.

All I can think of right now is the sound of collecting coins in Super Mario Bros as a sampled loop over the top of 1987 Final Fantasy score. Genius.

Tickets are on sale now.
