Sudan - a story of love and extinction
Winner Best New Play, Anglesea Play Festival 2018
Here is a play with heart, and a sense of global purpose. Written by multi-award-winning playwright Christine Davey and presented by SooT Productions, Sudan is the tale of the last white male rhino in existence, what we did to lose him, and what we failed to do when trying to save him.
Meet a rhino, his carer, the scientist dedicated to his wellbeing and explore the sacrifices they make on the way towards enlightenment. Whimsical, tragic, joyous, and funny, this is ultimately a vision of hope—a good deed in a naughty world—a production suitable for those who enjoy their theatre with bite, resonance and a fresh, bristling, visceral narrative.
Directed by Graci Lynch, the play is presented by SooT, a Geelong-based independent company dedicated to egalitarian, entertaining and exhilarating new works. Sudan features award-winning actors Fred Preston (Torquay Theatre Company), Kathryn O'Neill (Geelong Rep, Theatre of the Winged Unicorn) and Mary Steuten (SooT Productions).
